Phil Myers’ story is one of resilience, determination, and an unwavering love for his child. A father who knows the unique challenges of raising a child with behavioral difficulties, Phil’s journey started with his own struggles as a child with special needs. These experiences shaped his perspective, fueled his compassion, and ultimately inspired him to create Helpful Horizons.

Phil remembers vividly his own feelings of frustration, isolation, and misunderstanding he faced growing up.  These experiences gave him a unique insight into the barriers that children like him encounter every day—and a deep empathy for parents navigating these same struggles.

Years later, Phil and his wife Donna became parents to a spirited, beautiful child who faced his own behavioral difficulties. They quickly realized that while resources existed, they were often inaccessible, expensive, or difficult to navigate. The pain of watching their own child struggle mirrored some of his own past and ignited a passion within him to do something meaningful.

Phil knew he wasn’t alone. Countless families were in the same boat—desperate for answers, support, and hope. He began envisioning a world where no child was left behind, where families could access the help they needed without facing impossible barriers.

With this vision in mind, Helpful Horizons was born.

The mission of Helpful Horizons is deeply personal for Phil. It’s not just about providing services—it’s about ensuring that every child, no matter their challenges or background, has the chance to grow, succeed, and feel valued. Phil’s firsthand experiences fuel the organization’s commitment to breaking down barriers, supporting families, and creating opportunities for all.
